The Joker mocks her ambition and dismisses her as "only a sidekick," this which Harley finds very offensive and insulting. Batman then arrives to confront the two bad guys until the Joker flee into a submarine while promising Harley that if she is sent to Arkham, he will return for her.
He does not keep his promise, however, and Harley remains locked up in Arkham for a year. In his lair, Joker watches the news about the escape of Harley, Poison Ivy and Riddler , who is called Gotham's funniest villain; this angers the Joker to the point that he shoots his TV.
Harley then shows up and then declares that she has had enough of his lies, and breaks up with him. Joker uses reverse psychology to make Harley believe that he had abandoned him for the protege of Batman who attacked everyone he loved Of course another lie , which pushes Harley to return to him.
Later, Joker continues his vendetta against Riddler. Harley offers to watch a movie with Reese Witherspoon if she kills the Riddler.
Joker accepts but is still upset when he learns that the film is Sweet Home Alabama. Unfortunately, Harley gets captured with Batman by Riddler and gets suspended above an acid tank.
Riddler then invites Joker to his lair where he offers the Clown Prince of Crime to choose be the life of Harley or Batman.
Refusing to let the Riddler have the honor of killing Batman, Joker chooses his old enemy and abandons Harley once again to her fate, before being chased by Batman out of the den.
Finally enough of the Joker's abuse, Harley confronts him at home, finally realizing that he never loved her and leaving him for good.
The Joker declares that she can never break up with him because he is Gotham's biggest villain.
The Joker orders his goons to kill Harley, but she beats them all and destroys the lair. She then vows to him that she will take his place as Gotham's greatest villain.
He laughs and says that he doesn't care, although his hand tremor seems to indicate that he is very upset. On the ruins of his lair, Joker is angry that the construction manager asks him for a permit when no one is expected to know where he should be.
Bane then calls to tell him that Harley is at the Penguin 's nephew's Bar Mitzvah; angered, the Joker heads over there immediately.
Harley tries to encourage the three bad guys to rally to her, but the Joker bullies them until they reluctantly side with him, and Harley leaves, dejected.
Harley ruins the Bar Mitzvah by robbing a nearby bank, which the Penguin had filled with "play money" for his nephew.
The Joker takes advantage of the opportunity to belittle her, telling her that she will never be anything but a sidekick; he then threatens to kill her unless she admits that she is nothing without him.
Harley refuses, so the Joker orders his men to kill her. Harley asks Bane and the other villains why they let the Joker talk to them like that, and says that they have no reason to fear him, as he has no superpowers and he only intimidates others to get what he wants.
Bane and the others realize she is right, and turn their backs on the Joker. Exasperated, the Joker decides to kill Harley himself, but is interrupted by a phone call from the contractors rebuilding his lair.
He says he has to leave to deal with a construction problem, but promises Quinn he will deal with her later. Batman later comforts a rescued Robin and assures him he can wait until he is ready for his own nemesis.
While shopping around for a new lair, Harley cannot decide what her "brand" is and goes into a fourth degree brain-freeze. Ivy has Psycho bring them, Clayface, and King Shark into Harley's mind and meet up with her consciousness.
However, she accidentally triggers her mental defenses and locks them all in. While trying to find the "Emergency Exit" in her subconscious, Harley discovers her indecision comes from the belief her "origin story" was not her decision and that she altered her memory to believe that her becoming a villain was Joker's doing.
Choosing the moment she broke up with him as her true "origin story," Harley cures herself somewhat.
Meanwhile, Borgman finds Harley and the crew's comatose bodies and believes they committed suicide, so he takes them to an abandoned mall to cremate them.
At the last minute, everyone wakes up and nearly kill Borgman. Upon seeing the mall however, Harley decides to make it their new lair and allows Borgman to join her crew after learning he was a former secret agent.
Harley's crew steals a mysterious device from Wayne Enterprises , but Clayface's arm gets severed and comes to life. Becoming depressed after learning Batman fails to see him as a friend, Commissioner Gordon interrogates Clayface's hand for the location of Harley's crew, but ends up bonding with it.
While Harley, Clayface, and King Shark try to recover the hand, Ivy and Psycho seek revenge on an online personality called the Cowled Critic, who slandered them.
King Shark is beaten by police officers and sent to prison while Ivy and Psycho learn the Cowled Critic is his estranged son Herman, and makes amends with him.
While in a shoot-out with Gordon, Harley discovers the device is a teleporter when it sends her to the Batcave. Once Harley realizes she had been selfish and ignoring her teammates, she encourages Batman to help stop Gordon after he starts obsessively defending the hand.
Batman reconciles with Gordon, Clayface reabsorbs his hand, and Harley and her crew escape. As they celebrate, they realize they forgot King Shark and quickly break him out of prison.
When the Queen of Fables is transferred from her U. Master Tax Guide Book prison to Arkham Asylum, Harley frees her so she can join her crew and help them steal a personal force field device from S.
When the Queen slaughters an innocent family who witnessed them, however, the horrified crew kick her out. They then use the force field device to steal a weather-controlling machine from Kord Industries to ransom Gotham, but the Queen shows up to steal it for herself.
They are interrupted by Jason Praxis, a surviving member of the family with electrical powers who seeks revenge on the Queen for their murder.
Harley uses the force field device to protect the Queen, subdue Praxis, and get her to leave. Killing Praxis on her way out however, the Queen tells Harley that only villains willing to cross any line can succeed and that she will regret letting her live.
The crew later tries to program the weather machine, but accidentally cause it to self-destruct. Meanwhile, Ivy starts dating Kite Man, but his idiocy leaves her embarrassed to be around him in public.
After Harley's crew steal Atlantean jewels, they are invited to join the Legion of Doom. Lex Luthor even allows Psycho to be reinstated.
He secretly reveals to Ivy however that he is not actually interested in Harley and will not let her join unless she joins as well.
Ivy refuses and tries to warn Harley of Luthor's treachery. Suddenly, Aquaman breaks into the Hall of Doom and beats up several villains while seeking revenge for Harley's theft, but she tricks him into breaking an aquarium and focus on saving the fish.
As thanks, the Legion inducts Harley as an official member. Harley accuses Ivy of lying to her and they angrily part ways.
Meanwhile, Psycho and Borgman deal with a mutant monster in their lair's basement. When Psycho tries to kill it, Borgman stops him; revealing the monster is his sister Mirielle, who got mutated because of him.
Psycho uses his powers to let the siblings communicate and reconcile, but Mirielle is released into the streets and goes on a rampage.
Much to Harley's surprise, the Joker congratulates her on joining the Legion of Doom, treating her as an equal. Harley reconciles with Ivy and promises to help her attack an environmentally unfriendly company called Planetwide Pavers.
Unlike Harley however, her crew are treated as lowly henchmen and Bane hires them to help him get revenge on a clerk for always getting his name wrong.
Harley attends a dinner date with the Joker to try to persuade him to convince Luthor to elevate her crew's status, but she has so much fun with him, she forgets to tell him.
While planting a bomb for Bane, King Shark ends up being hospitalized after the former loses patience and detonates it early.
When Batman pursues them, Joker kisses Harley before shoving her out of his helicopter to slow the Dark Knight down.
While the crew and Ivy stand vigil over King Shark in the hospital, they see an out-of-context image of the Joker and Harley kissing on the news.
When Harley arrives, they accuse her of taking advantage of them and cut ties with her. Later that night, Ivy tries to attack Planetwide Pavers by herself, but gets captured.
Depressed over her crew abandoning her, Harley returns home to her parents in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn , but quickly becomes upset with her deadbeat father.
Later that night, an assassin attacks them and kills Harley's grandmother before she is able to defeat him. Her father claims he owes a loan shark money, so Harley beats him and his goons to force them to leave her father alone.
Meanwhile, Ivy finds herself trapped in a laboratory, but manages to use a dandelion to tell her sentient plant Frank to get Harley's help before learning that Scarecrow is her captor.
Another assassin attacks and kills Harley's grandfather before she defeats her. Suddenly, her parents attack her, explaining that someone put a bounty on her and they aim to collect.
An enraged Harley defeats them, but chooses to spare and disown them as they are not worth it. Just as Harley collapses from her injuries, Frank finds her and tells her Ivy is in trouble.
Elsewhere, Bane discovers that Joshua Cobblepot put the bounty on Harley as revenge for her ruining his Bar Mitzvah and berates him for using a traceable credit card before destroying it to cancel said bounty.
Harley brings her crew back together to apologize and request their help in rescuing Ivy. They agree to do so, but only for Ivy's sake.
Meanwhile, the Scarecrow harvests Ivy's pheromones so he can use them to destroy Gotham before poisoning her with his fear toxin, sending her into a panic.
Psycho brings the crew into Ivy's head while Borgman protects their bodies. Inside her head, Frank informs them the only way to save Ivy is to destroy the thing she fears the most, which appears in the form of the Grim Reaper.
Harley defeats the Reaper, but sees her face under the hood before she and the crew wake up.
The Scarecrow tries to escape on the Harley Quinn Highway, but Borgman transforms into a car so the crew can give chase.
Amidst said chase, Ivy tells Harley her fear is being abandoned by someone she trusted and that she resents her for being with the Joker instead of helping her.
Harley attempts to make amends by blowing off the head of her statue to stop the Scarecrow, but he succeeds in poisoning the Gotham Reservoir and infecting the city's water supply with Ivy's pheromones; turning most of Gotham's trees into violent monsters.
The Scarecrow starts crop-dusting fear toxin around Gotham's perimeters to force thousands of civilians towards the park with the murderous trees.
As Batman tracks him down, the Justice League arrives to stop the trees. They assume Harley's crew is behind the attacks and attempt to send them to the Phantom Zone , but Ivy uses Wonder Woman's lasso to prove them wrong.
Suddenly, the Queen of Fables traps the League in her fairy tale book before using a beanstalk to send Harley and her crew to be attacked by a giant cyclops.
With Kite Man's help, they are able to return to the ground safely. Just then, the Joker appears with a large tower and destroys the Hall of Doom as he enacts his plans to take over Gotham City and orders the Queen of Fables to kill Harley and her team.
Ivy uses the contaminated water to grow into a giant and fight the trees while Harley defeats the Queen of Fables, beheading her in the process.
Just as Harley makes amends with Ivy, the Joker kills the latter. Harley's crew, Frank, and Kite Man hold an impromptu funeral for Ivy before they join forces with Batman to avenge her.
While they distract the Joker, Batman skydives to the top of the tower to take him down. However, Clayface inadvertently ruins the plan and gets the crew and Batman captured while Harley is forced into hiding.
His takeover largely complete, Joker spends the next week subjugating Gotham and brutally torturing Batman and the crew, only to get bored.
Hoping to help, the Scarecrow unmasks Batman, but Joker kills him for ruining the "mystery". Meanwhile, Harley revisits Ivy's grave, where Frank and Kite Man tell her the crew is going to be publicly executed, so she surrenders herself in exchange for their lives.
Once her crew is safe, Harley tries to kill the Joker, but he overpowers her. Instead of killing her, he decides to drop her in acid that will render her "normal.
Batman saves Harley and Ivy before disappearing in the debris. Reunited, the crew reflect on everything that has happened amidst Gotham's ruins while a "normal" Joker emerges from the rubble.
Weeks after the Joker's defeat and Batman's disappearance, the President of the United States has declared the destroyed Gotham a no man's land while Harley and her crew revel in the resulting anarchy and Robin tries to take up the mantle of Batman.
GCPD 's surviving officers, with the exception of Gordon, have become outnumbered and unmotivated to restore law and order as various sections of the city have been taken over by the Penguin, the Riddler, Bane, Two-Face, and Mr.
Freeze ; who have formed the Injustice League following the Legion of Doom's destruction. Harley disapproves of their control, especially after they give her a small amount of territory, and attempts to rebel against them; only to get herself captured.
Months later, Ivy and the rest of the crew manage to break her out, giving her the chance to murder the Penguin and see that the rest of the Injustice League have taken over the rest of Gotham.
Seeing as how she was the one who defeated the Joker, Harley believes she deserves to rule the city and vows to take out all of her rivals.
Unbeknownst to everyone, two paramedics find Bruce Wayne among the rubble. After learning that the Riddler has power and clean water, Harley, Ivy, and Clayface make plans to infiltrate his stronghold, "Riddler University", while King Shark and Doctor Psycho venture through Two-Face and Bane's territories to secure a water filter.
However, Harley nearly blows her cover after attacking the mascot in front of the tour guide, Barbara Gordon.
Harley and Ivy track down Barbara to kill her before she can warn the Riddler, but she tells them she wants to stop him after deducing he was responsible for kidnapping students ever since he took over and that she procured invitations for a party at a fraternity house where the disappearances occurred.
Harley and Ivy steal the invitations for themselves and Clayface and successfully enter the party, where they learn that the kidnapped students are being used as human batteries before the Riddler captures them.
Meanwhile, dissatisfied with doing nothing, Barbara becomes inspired by her father, Commissioner Gordon, to stop Riddler herself.
Despite being outnumbered, she manages to take out the generator, subdue Riddler, and free everyone. Instead of killing the Riddler, Harley, Ivy, and Clayface use him to power the mall, while Barbara makes the decision to become Batgirl.
After a failed attempt to infiltrate Mr. Freeze's lair, Harley and her crew decide to steal Firefly 's flamethrower from Doctor Trap 's museum in order to melt their way in.
Harley and Ivy recruit Kite Man and Catwoman to help them while the others have to locate the Riddler after he manipulated Psycho into facilitating his escape.
During the theft, Ivy starts to question the direction her life is going in and finds herself under even more pressure as Kite Man tries to steal a ring from the museum and propose to her.
To make matters worse, Catwoman betrays them and escapes on her own, leaving them to die until they manage to escape using the flamethrower.
After beating Doctor Trap and heading home, Harley and Ivy help the rest of the crew recapture the Riddler, who decides to keep powering the mall for the time being.
Afterward, Harley convinces Ivy that she does not have to feel ashamed about letting her past go, so the latter goes to find Kite Man and insists he pop the question again.
Freeze's lair, only to get captured. Freeze explains his many failed attempts to save his ailing wife Nora Fries before trying to use Harley as a human lab rat, but she convinces Freeze to let her call Ivy for help in finding a cure to buy her crew time to kill him.
At this point he had already sought out Queen of Fables , entering into an alliance with her so that she could wipe out the Justice League when they arrived to deal with the plant monsters.
All the Joker had to do now was to finish his tower, which would spring up from the ground as Harley suggested and destroy the Legion of Doom headquarters in the process, leaving him in complete control of Gotham City.
The Joker's new tower amidst the ruins of the Legion of Doom. All of the Joker's plans came to fruition, with Queen of Fables trapping the Justice League inside her storybook and sending Harley and her crew into the clouds to be killed by the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk.
With only the Legion of Doom left to take his revenge on, he activated his now-finished tower, exploding the Legion headquarters and launching the tower into the air where it stood.
He then broadcast himself to the city, mocking the old Legion of Doom for admitting "any second-rate clown with a cheap dye job" into their ranks.
Afterward he celebrated with Queen of Fables, until he realized that Harley Quinn and her crew survived, so he demanded she finish them off.
His plans initially seemed to be unraveling when Poison Ivy currently a giantess drew away and killed the plant monsters defending his tower, and Harley Quinn personally assassinated Queen of Fables, leaving him with fewer assets.
However, he kept a close eye on the situation and trained a harpoon on Ivy after she killed the last of the plant monsters.
While she stood still and talked to Harley, the Joker launched the harpoon - actually just a flag pole with his banner on it - which ran clean through Ivy's chest, mortally wounding her.
As the situation dawned on everyone, the Joker burst out into hysterical laughter which rolled across the countryside from his tower's speakers.
He stopped just long enough to admire everyone's heartbreak at Ivy's death, saying "oops", before continuing to laugh in response to Harley's scream of rage and denial.
On the Joker's birthday, Harley Quinn suddenly arrived at the base of his tower claiming to have a gift for him.
He mockingly mentioned how he murdered Poison Ivy on purpose, but Harley insisted that she was practical, that she wanted to be on the "winning side", which the Joker said was quite mature of her.
In response she brought out Clayface , disguised as Batman , to present to the Joker as her gift. This overjoyed the Joker, who insisted that Harley sing "Happy Birthday" to him, but this caused Clayface to burst out into song as well, revealing to the Joker that this wasn't the real Batman.
Panicking, Harley shot a rocket at the Joker's tower, forcing him to dodge. However, the blast disrupted the real Batman, who was trying to ambush the Joker while he was distracted, just long enough for the Joker to notice him and respond.
The Joker fled to the center of the tower and erected a protective dome around himself, at which point knock-out gas began to flood the room, knocking out Batman and allowing him to be captured.
The Joker then resumed command of the tower's defense systems, extending hooks to capture all of Harley's crew except her, who nimbly dodged and fled the bullets the tower shot after her.
The Joker takes over Gotham City. With Batman, the Legion of Doom , and the Justice League gone, and with Gotham City still in chaos after the plant monster attack, the Joker easily took over the local government and turned it into an authoritarian city-state.
Under his rule he created a small army who would kill anyone who didn't laugh at the Joker's jokes and set a bounty on Harley Quinn for capture.
Personally, he set about torturing Harley's crew by ripping out King Shark 's teeth to make a necklace, forcing Doctor Psycho to watch feminist rallies nonstop, tossing Sy Borgman down a spiral staircase, and shaping Clayface into a sculpture of himself.
He also turned Batman into a cuckoo clock, and would electrocute him for fun. Unfortunately for the Joker, his victories soon paled for him, and he became bored with what he had.
He reminisced about the times he would spend with Harley Quinn, getting even more disruptive whenever they finished causing some evil or another.
He wondered what was wrong with himself, and became angered when Batman suggested that it was because he was a "sociopathic narcissist".
He asked "who do you think you are, a psychiatrist? The Joker soon became even angrier after Scarecrow revealed his identity, as the Joker liked the mystery, and when Scarecrow continued to talk about Harley he became enraged.
He shot acid from the flower on his shirt onto Scarecrow's head, causing his skull to explode, but even that didn't cheer up the Joker.
He simply complained to Batman about not getting his electric car from WayneTech. Obsessed with Harley, the Joker put out several flyers saying he would execute her crew, attempting to bait her in.
This succeeded, but she arrived in a suicide vest prepared to kill herself if he didn't release her friends. Wanting her alive, he allowed her inside the tower, and asked her to put on her old Harley Quinn outfit.
She refused, saying she'd rather die and take him with her, but he had her crew members nearby - doing so would kill them, too. Using them as leverage, he was finally able to coerce her into putting it on in exchange for their release, which he honored as "a man of my word".
He spoke to Harley then and claimed that she was the missing piece to his happiness, which she pretended to believe, and as they both came in for a kiss they stabbed each other.
If I were to kill you, you'd live on forever, an emotional martyr in my soul. So I'm going to erase you from existence.
Neither of them being particularly surprised, they both dug the knives in deeper and the Joker head-butted her away. They then began to fight, and although Harley scored him thrice more with a knife, he managed to distract her with the acid from his flower and then sucker punch her, winning the fight.
He then claimed that he was being entirely truthful earlier, that she was his final weakness that he needed to remove. Harley then begged for death, but the Joker had other idea.
He refused, and instead had her taken away by a couple of his goons. At last, the Joker brought Harley once again before a vat of chemicals, these chemicals intended to wipe away her memory and leave her as a "nobody.
A blank canvas. A stranger on the streets. He held her to blame for "making me fall in love with you", and assured her that she wouldn't remember a thing.
However, Harley suddenly requested that she jump on her own, which the Joker found amusing and easily allowed, to his regret.
He walked away after she jumped, but neither he nor his bodyguards heard any splash, at which point Harley and Poison Ivy rose above the catwalk.
He immediately regretted not harpooning Ivy in the head, and tried to flee after Ivy dispatched his bodyguards, but Ivy's vines were too fast and he was captured.
Although he tried to talk his way out, Ivy forced him to endure Harley's gloating and then dropped him into the chemicals.
Not to be outdone however, he emerged from the chemicals and tried to escape the vat, but finding that impossible, he remotely detonated his tower just before he went under for the final time.
This caused his tower and most of Gotham City to self destruct, however, the Joker did not die as a result.
After his tower fell into ruin he reached his arm out from the rubble, laughing maniacally, but his laugh turned into a normal one and his skin turned from pure white to a normal Caucasian tone, as the chemicals finally took effect and made him normal again.
Months later Harley and Ivy find him working at Noonan's Bar with no memory of his past as the clown prince of crime. They have Doctor Psycho read is mind to see if he had truly forgotten, when it was confirmed they left; however when he saw a funny picture of his new girlfriend's kids on his phone, he starts to laugh maniacally hinting that he is relapsing.
Do you take me for a basic bitch? As with other iterations of the Joker, the Joker in Harley Quinn talks about the horrible things he does with a blase demeanor, treats violence as a joke, manipulates Harley, is incredibly prideful, treats his own minions like they're disposable if he doesn't outright kill them himself for petty reasons , is unpredictably violent, bullies his own colleagues, and shows no remorse for anything he does.
In " The Final Joke ", both Batman and Harley describe him as a "sociopathic narcissist" with a chemical imbalance in his parasympathetic nervous system.
His pride frequently leads him to try to sabotage Harley Quinn, unable to accept her agency or independence, and leads him to ruthlessly betray her after deceiving her into thinking that she had regained his affections.
Despite all this, Joker admitted that he actually did love Harley but due to his belief that love was a weakness, he wanted to get rid of her.
Realizing that killing her would make her a painful memory that would hurt him for the rest of his life, he settled for trying to make Harley forget who she was instead.
After having his own memory erased, Joker's view on love changed dramatically when he fell in love with Bethany. Spending six months as a "loser stepdad" softened him and even once he regained his memory, he decided that his relationship with Bethany could be a great thing.
The New 52 shows Harley Quinn with a sleeveless top, tight shorts, and boots. Her hair color has also been altered to half-red and half-black, and her bleached white skin is the result of being kicked into a vat of acid by the Joker.
After a falling out with the Joker, she goes into a murderous frenzy, directed towards people responsible for the Joker's imprisonment.
However, when she discovers that the Joker is rumored to be dead, it takes a further toll to her already-addled mind, and betraying the Suicide Squad, she puts their safety and secrecy at risk by turning herself into the Gotham Police Department in a plot to gain access to the skinned face of the Joker.
Deadshot lures Harley in close, shooting and severely injuring her during the conversation. The Batman then falls into a tank and demands Harley to tell him where the Joker is.
However, she only replies, in tears, that he is no longer the Joker she had fallen in love with. On July 16, , DC announced that a new Harley Quinn ongoing comic book series would begin publication in November , co-written by Amanda Conner and her husband Jimmy Palmiotti , cover illustrated by Conner, and story illustrated by Chad Hardin.
In the series, Harley Quinn has become a landlady at Coney Island , is a part-time member of a roller derby team, and has returned to her work in psychology under her real alias, indicating that Harley's real identity is not public knowledge in the new status quo.
She also befriends an elderly ex-U. Under Conner and Palmiotti's writing, Harley was reinvented as an antihero who, after being released from the Suicide Squad and having her public files erased, values human life more or less and actively tries to improve life in her neighborhood, with mixed results.
While the comic book version of the character is still romantically linked with the Joker, a more recent development has Harley also romantically involved with Poison Ivy.
Harley Quinn series writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner confirmed that the two characters are in a non-monogamous romantic relationship.
Harley agrees to help a woman whose daughter has been kidnapped by a gang in Hollywood. Harley Quinn has featured a few standalone specials which are not directly connected to the main series and feature multiple artists.
In the scratch and sniff -themed Annual issue, Harley briefly returned to Gotham to save her girlfriend Poison Ivy, as the Arkham Asylum employees monitoring her had brainwashed her to create a hallucinogenic pathogen.
She shares a brief intimate moment with Bruce Wayne. At Coney Island, Batman informs Harley that while he still distrusts her, he admires her attempt at heroism and promises not to interfere.
Harley kisses the Batman and tells him to get "lessons" on kissing from Bruce Wayne, to which the Batman privately grins.
In Futures End , a series set five years in the future, Harley mails herself to the Bahamas in an attempt to save money on airfare.
The plane carrying her crashes over the ocean while flying through a storm, and Harley is washed up onto the shores of an island inhabited by an uncontacted tribe.
The tribe quickly declares her a goddess and is determined to have her meet their god-king who turns out to be the Joker.
After a fight and reconciliation, Harley learns that the Joker has been living on the island as a god and making the inhabitants dress up as various superheroes and track him down while playing tricks on them.
It is announced that she and the Joker are to be married. She is initially excited about the pending marriage, until she discovers that the two will be sacrificed to the island's volcano as their wedding ceremony ends.
The series is set to run six issues and takes place while Harley has the amnesiac Power Girl convinced the two are a crime-fighting duo.
Harley has broken up with the Joker and has a romantic relationship with Poison Ivy. Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti's four-year run on Harley Quinn, after almost a hundred issues, came to an end with Harley Quinn 34 "That's all folks!
The ongoing series has no apparent connection to Suicide Squad other than her new hairstyle, dyed for her by one of the tenants in her Brooklyn apartment and a few guest shots from characters like Killer Croc and Deadshot.
Harley has once again met up with Power Girl and even her new sidekick Terra. She has faced down multiple villains from the Penguin to the corrupt mayor of New York and is in the process of running for mayor herself when the previous mayor tried to solve the homeless problem by feeding them to cannibals.
She also runs a "vigilante for hire" group; she calls her Gang of Harleys and has numerous other allies and stalkers, including Red Tool a parody of Deadpool , Harley Sinn a former nemesis and various other allies she has made along the way.
The mayor countered by kidnapping her friend Mason and killing him. Harley got revenge, and then she and Ivy went to visit with her family.
On her return, a Man-Bat was seen around town, and Tony went missing. Not feeling very good after the death of Mason, Harley ordered her gang to stay out of it and was summarily ignored.
They went to Arkham to ask Langstrom if he was behind it but found him gibbering in his cell. He did, however, mention that there was "another.
Kidnapped moments later, they awoke in Langstrom's lab to find that his wife Francine was the newest Man-Bat, and she then jabbed Harley with the Man-Bat potion.
Freeze, and numerous other Batman villains took advantage of Harley's grief over her dead friend Mason to split her from her team.
This was a temporary measure, and soon, Harley freed them from mind control and apologized for some things she said while on truth serum.
A few weeks later, the Riddler showed up late for the fight while Harley and her gang were eating at the reformed Condiment King's new hot dog stand, and they easily beat him up too.
This was followed up by a one-shot issue in which we see a decimated future where Red Tool has tracked down Old Lady Harley at future cyborg Tony's request.
Harley finds her old original gang, beats them up, and retakes control. Back in the current time period, she recently went on a one-woman rampage on Apokolips before coming back to Earth with a new friend she rescued from Granny Goodness named Tina to deal with a realtor and a cult run by a skeleton-headed goof calling himself "Lord Death Man" whom she heard about on a literal pirate broadcast.
It turns out that he set it up himself because he is in love with her and thought it was fun walking into her traps, being apparently unkillable.
Harley used the money he paid her to save her building and surrounding businesses from a land developer, whom she then catapulted away.
When last seen, Harley was reading one of her own comics and a woman calling herself Jonni DC, Continuity Cop was threatening to stop her, and the preview predicted Harley would destroy the DC Universe.
After her mother was temporarily retconned and a series of pointless adventures through multiple continuities, everything was restored to normal, with the exception of an alternate past superhero with no concept of a "gray area" being pulled into Harley's world.
This contest drew controversy not only because it was announced close to National Suicide Prevention Week , but because some artists did not like the sexualized portrayal of Harley in the fourth scenario, in which Harley attempts suicide while naked in her bathtub.
After seeing the reactions to the contest, DC apologized, saying they should have made it clear that it was a dream sequence that was not supposed to be taken seriously.
In the final version, the bathtub scene was cut and replaced with Harley sitting on a rocket while flying in space. Harley also teamed up with a lot of major DC characters in Harley's Little Black Book , including Zatanna, Wonder Woman, Superman, Lobo, and a version of herself and some other superheroines in a world in which they were trying to kill Hitler.
Harley Quinn has a recurring role in the comic book title Suicide Squad , which debuted its fifth volume with Suicide Squad vol.
She wears tight blue-and-red shorts, a ripped white tee shirt, a satin jacket, fingerless gloves, net stockings, and boots. Her other outfit is a two-tone, black-and-red suit consisting of a full-sleeve top, tight shorts, opaque stockings, garter belt attachments, and boots.
Harley Quinn is adorned with tattoos, and her hair color is blonde hair with blue dip dye on the left side and pink dip dye on the right to match the movie and her new hairstyle in Unlike her counterpart in the New 52 series who may be a sequel to this series after Harley finishes her time on the Squad, even going so far as to erase her public criminal record despite the fact that both versions got the dip-dyed hairstyle at the same time , she is still fairly dark and resists any attempts at labeling her a hero, no matter how many lives she saves or how many times she steps up to take command of the situation.
She tends to swap her carefree joking attitude for the occasional sulk. So far, the events of the Squad do little to affect the DC Universe outside of their immediate mission.
She is still officially done with the Joker in a romantic capacity and still Poison Ivy's on-again, off-again girlfriend.
The ongoing fifth volume of Suicide Squad shows Harley Quinn as an unpredictable and dangerous inmate at Belle Reve Penitentiary, attacking the facility's security forces when given the opportunity.

Harley Quinn appears in the Batman: Arkham franchise. Arleen Sorkin initially reprises her role in the first game, whereas Tara Strong assumes the role for the remainder of the series.
Harleen Quinzel was driven insane following her father's long bout with mental illness and eventual suicide.
Attempting to avoid her father's fate, she joins a criminal organisation called the Pact to steal a virus that will be able to cure her hereditary condition.
This depiction initially reverses the dynamic between Harley and the Joker. Quinn manipulates and abuses her former patient at Arkham Asylum, named "John Doe", who is infatuated with her.
As the series progresses, John's confidence will increase and, depending on the player's choices, he will either aid Bruce Wayne in capturing Quinn or transform into the traditional version of the Joker.
In the latter outcome, Harley will become the Joker's girlfriend and the two use the virus to threaten Gotham City. Harley Quinn is recast as Pauline Ketch, one of the six women who share their stories in the Hell Hath club.
She is openly contemptuous of the other women, claiming that her "Mr. Punch" Joker will rescue her one day. She hates Grimdark Batman for what she sees as causing gentrification in Gigonol Gotham and the fact that his no-kill rule often leads to lifetime crippling and manslaughter.
Pauline started out as the neglected daughter of a wealthy man who burned her house and other rich houses to the ground. After being caught by Grimdark, she is incarcerated in Sarkaman Asylum, claiming that she only got of prison due to her father's wealth.
There, she becomes fascinated by the comatose Mr. Punch, who has bright yellow hair, red eyes, and is covered in burn scars.

Punch to keep her around as his partner-in-crime by withholding Grimdark's name, relishing his abuse and the havoc they wreak. Punch is unable to have sex with her, possibly because of his lust for Grimdark, requiring them to use an elaborately carved sex toy.
When Pauline finally reveals Grimdark's name, she and Mr. Punch have an enthusiastic night of genuine sex before he drowns he in the bathtub.
As she tells her story, Pauline briefly returns to reality and realizes Mr. Punch was only using her, only to escape back into her delusions immediately afterward.
However, later on in the story, she is shown to be having a quiet relationship with Bayou Mera suggesting that hope is not lost for her.

The series focuses on a single Harley Quinn, who sets off to make it on her own in Gotham City. As a fan of the original introduction of the character in Batman: The Animated Series I always had a soft spot in my heart for Harley Quinn.
Finding out about her relationship with Ivy made me even more happy years later. As a lifelong comic book reader I kept up with Harley and always loved when she would show up in Batman titles.
The Margot Robbie version of the character certainly looks right despite my love of her original costume much more so than other interpretations but the script she was working with in "Suicide Squad" was laughable.
The "New 52" version of Harley is hard to root for as she murders innocents on several occasions. But then this little gem of a show with an all-star cast, terrific animation, and just outright AMAZING writing comes out and makes me want more!
I was so sad to realise that this is only a six episode season. I am chomping at the bit for more. I only hope that the comic book version of Harley has come around to reflect this version and isn't just DC's maniacally evil version of Deadpool.
